Financial Aid

The mission of the Financial Aid Office is to help remove financial barriers to assist students in meeting the cost of attendance at BCC.  The role of our office is to fill the gap that exists between the cost of attendance and funds available from your family, savings, and other resources.  We will assist you with completing your application for financial aid, determining your level of need and offering financial aid to meet your educational expenses.  Our staff is available to answer any questions you may have regarding financial aid and your eligibility concerns.

The Financial Aid Office provides assistance and counseling in completing the financial aid application, evaluation and determination of need.  Advisors and counselors are available via email and the scheduled weekly walk-in hours.

Financial Aid

Financial aid awards may include grants, loans, and work.  The Financial Aid Office uses the standards and procedures developed by the U. S. Department of Education to estimate a fair student and family contribution and determine financial need.

The Money is Good, Day or Evening.
Your financial aid award can be used to pay for day, evening or summer courses at any BCC class location.  If it's easier to schedule some of your classes in the day and some at night, your financial aid award is flexible enough to accommodate that.

Full-Time or Part-Time Enrollment
One of the biggest myths of financial aid is that only full time students are eligible. Many part time students qualify for financial aid. Some even qualify when they're only enrolled in one course. The golden rule of financial aid is "You must apply."

It's free and our office will be glad to help you through the process. Once we have your information, we will do all we can to identify resources to help you meet your costs.

Re-apply for Financial Aid every year
Your eligibility for financial aid must be reestablished each academic year.  That means that you should complete the financial aid forms every Spring for the coming school year.

We want you to be informed and become an advocate for yourself so that you will receive the maximum financial aid that is available to you.  We strongly recommend that you apply online. Please refer to How to Apply for more information.

Check your Financial Aid Status
If you're currently registered as a student, you can check your application and award status through your accessBCC account.
To check your financial aid application for missing documents, go to Financial Aid, then Student Requirements
To check your award status, go to Financial Aid, then My Award Info

The Financial Aid Office is committed to being a paperless office.  Documentation sent to the office is scanned and indexed through our document imaging system.  During peak periods, it can take up to a week for information to appear as received.  Please allow mailing and scanning time when checking your application status.  The information you view through accessBCC is the same information viewable to the Enrollment Services staff.
