Financial Aid Workshops

The Financial Aid Office, in conjunction with the Educational Opportunity Center, host a series of workshops to help you complete the FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  At these workshops, you will receive guidance on completing the information needed on the FAFSA and with completing the applicaton on-line.

No appointment is needed - but you need to arrive on time for the start of the session.

Whose information do you bring?

  • your (the student) information 
  • if you are a dependent student*, your parent information also
  • if married, your spouse information also

    What information do you bring?

  • signed and filed 2008 federal tax return - Form 1040 (student's, parent's, and/or spouse's)
  • 2008 W-2 Forms (student's, parent's, spouse's)
  • verification of any other income received- SSI, SSDI, TANF (student's, parent's, spouse's)
  • verification of any support, money paid on your behalf, money given directly to you (student's, parent's, spouse's)
  • savings and checking account information (student's, parent's, spouse's)
  • asset information (student's, parent's, spouse's)
  • Federal PIN number; this is the four digit number issued by the U. S. Department of Education.  If you need one, please go to www.pin.ed.gov.  If you are a dependent applicant, your parent will also need their own PIN.

    Who is considered a dependent student?*
    Dependent students are those individuals born January 1, 1986 or later. 

    However, parent information is not needed if:

  • you are married
  • you are a veteran or serving in the armed services
  • both your parents are deceased
  • you have a child and you provide more than 50% of their support
  • you are or have been a ward or orphan of the court until the age of 18
  • you have dependents other than a child and provide more than 50% of their support
  • you are an emancipated minor as determined by the court
  • you were born before January 1, 1986.
