Student Assistance
Student aid through scholarships:
Scholarships funded through the BCC Foundation and Alumni Association range in value from $200 to $2,200.
Scholarship applications are available the first week of March at locations throughout the campus, including the development office (D100), the Lash Enrollment Center, the Farley Learning Resource Center, and each campus satellite location.
It may also be downloaded here.
One application form entitles students to be considered for most of the scholarship funds listed. Applications are due in the Foundation office prior to May 1st and the students are notified of award decisions during the summer. Alumni Association scholarships are awarded from the same pool of applications but are awarded in December for the Spring semester.
In 2006-07 the Foundation and Association funded $175,000 in scholarships to 170 students.
See our list of the endowed Scholarships and the specific eligibility requirements. Most scholarships also require that the student demonstrate financial need.
Student aid through emergency loans:
The Foundation provides interest-free emergency loans to students for school related situations. Loan amounts are generally limited to a maximum of $200.
In 2006-2007, $39,000 in loans was extended to 178 students. The vast majority of loans granted were for textbooks.
To apply for an emergency loan, students must download and complete an application. The form is also available at the Resource Development Office, D100
