Position: DEPARTMENT CHAIR – NURSING PROGRAM
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the organization, implementation, review, continued development, and general effectiveness of the Nursing Program to assure attainment of standards set by NLNAC and Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing for program accreditation. Provide strong leadership in recruitment and admission of students; recruit and orient new full- and part-time faculty; review and revise program curriculum to meet college and professional accreditation standards and requirements; review all course outlines and syllabi; develop and prepare all reports required by accrediting, governing and community agencies; order all program supplies; prepare program’s budget requests and administer within the prescribed limits established by the College; prepare and administer grants that fund program initiatives; work to ensure a strong, supportive Advisory Committee and schedule meetings on a regular basis; establish liaison and cooperation with external agencies in order to promote workforce development; establish and maintain liaison with professional associations in order to promote continued support for the program, its mission and graduates; ensure appropriate and adequate student placements and clinical assignments as mandated by accrediting bodies; maintain required student records; teach courses within the program as assigned; use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate; submit preferred subject matter, class schedule, and agency placements and assignments; maintain a minimum of four (4) posted office hours per week; serve on College committees as elected or appointed; chair department and Nursing Advisory Committee meetings; maintain competence through academic and professional credentials, continuing education, and professional growth and development. Attend division meetings and College meetings; perform other duties as assigned by the Dean consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Required:
Required: Current Massachusetts licensure as Registered Nurse (RN); Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or an earned entry-level doctorate in nursing; minimum of five years full time nursing experience, or its equivalent, within the last eight years, with at least three years experience in nursing education; knowledge of nursing accreditation and regulation policies and guidelines; knowledge of nursing governance and regulatory agencies; excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated evidence of cooperation and collaboration with staff, administrators and colleagues; curriculum development skills; interest and experience with technology common in nursing practice and education; and knowledge of computer applications commonly used in nursing, academic and administrative fields.Preferred:
Preferred: Administrative/management and community college teaching experience.
Department chair leadership experience; member of nursing related professional associations.
Supervision Required: Reports to Dean for Health Sciences.

Position Status: MCCC/MTA, full-time, tenure track position with benefits.
Salary: $48,000 to $92,555 – depending on qualifications and experience, and consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
