Position: Dean of Adult Basic Education and Workplace Literacy

Duties and Responsibilities:

Secures grants to support literacy programs; oversees all fiscal expenditures and manages program budgets; hires and trains staff; supervises project directors at all literacy program sites; supervises BCC’s GED Chief Examiner; develops and coordinates curriculum and materials for adult education and assesses and incorporates new and best practices; ensures quality of instruction and support services; collaborates with local Workforce Investment Boards, area School Departments, Department of Transitional Assistance, and other agencies for referrals and resource support; represents the College on external and statewide committees, addressing literacy issues; provides input regarding student recruitment efforts and supports student enrichment and job readiness activities; prepares monthly reports and statistical data required by funding agencies; assures accurate program records, including testing and evaluation data..

Qualifications:

Required:
Master’s degree in related area; substantial progressive experience teaching adults in an Adult Basic Education setting; knowledge of and demonstrated ability in Adult Basic Education curriculum development and professional development; proficiency in oral and written expression; demonstrated ability in grant writing; knowledge of area educational delivery systems; experience in developing collaborative relationships; personnel supervision and program evaluation experience; extensive fiscal operations and budget management skills; willingness to work flexible hours; travel.

Position Status: : Non-Unit, full-time, partially grant-funded position with benefits.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
