Who can attend BCC?
Everyone! Whether you need your high school equivalency, a college degree, high-tech computer training for career enhancement, or courses that make your leisure time more enjoyable, you can find it at BCC. We even have courses especially for children, in our "Kids College" program.
How do I apply?
If you're interested in enrolling in a degree program, start with the Admissions office, ext. 2179 or by e-mail. They can send you a catalog or other information you need, including an application form. The College offers rolling admissions, which means you can apply at any time during the year. Students are accepted to begin in September, January, or the summer. Application for competitive degree programs, including Child Care, Clinical Laboratory Science, Complementary Healthcare, Dental Hygiene, Healthcare Information, Nursing and Occupational Therapy Assistant will receive priority consideration if a complete application package is received by January 15.
Why go to a community college when I can go right to a four-year college?
Earning the first two years of your baccalaureate degree at BCC is an affordable alternative to the high tuition and living expenses you would have to pay at a residential college. With excellent teaching faculty and educational resources available at BCC, we can assure that your first two years will give you a top-notch education.
Do I need to take any special testing for admission?
Bristol Community College does not require the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) All incoming freshman will complete a computerized placement test in Reading, English, Arithmetic, and Algebra.
Must I choose a program of study before I enroll?
If you're unsure about your career direction, you can choose to enroll in the Liberal Arts and Sciences, or enroll as a non-degree student. You can also seek career advice from the Career Planning office.
How do I apply for financial assistance to attend college?
The Financial Aid office can help you file the Free Application for Federal Aid, and also to apply for the many scholarships and grants offered through the BCC Foundation.
When is the campus open?
Generally, the campus is open when classes are in session - from 7:30 am to approximately 10 pm. Hours change during holidays and in the summer. For more information, contact the Switchboard by dialing 0, or Campus Security by dialing ext. 2218. For hours in the Learning Resources Center, dial ext. 2105. For information on the Arts Center, dial A-R-T-S (ext. 2787).
